About the magazine

The concept of a magazine aimed at followers of the North West Counties Football League, now known as the Vodkat League, had been discussed by the League Management committee a number of times over the years, but the idea finally got off the ground in the summer of 2006.

Initially, a printed publication costing around £1 was envisaged, but with the majority of football followers now using the internet as their main source of football information, the decision was taken to develop an on-line magazine which was available free of charge to anyone with an interest in non-league football in general, and the Vodkat League in particular.

The main aims of the magazine are:

to extend coverage of Vodkat League clubs and their activities to a wider audience to encourage clubs and supporters alike to get involved in contributing stories and ideas for publicationto give anyone the opportunity to tell their own individual stories about their involvement in the League, either as a player, a club official or a supporter

An appeal via the main League web site in August 2006 for a suitable magazine title produced dozens of suggestions.

Eventually, the League management committee decided that David Lewis from Selby in North Yorkshire had come up with a title that nicely summed up the ethos of the magazine. The publication featuring stories from around the North West Counties League was duly named "North West Side Stories", and the first edition was published on line on the 14th October 2006.

The intention is that editions will be published approximately three times a season.
